“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
— Hosea 4:6
Beloved, there is something we need to understand in our lives: we can suffer simply because we lack knowledge.
The Difference Between an Ordinary User and a Mechanic
Let us take a simple example.
When a car breaks down, an ordinary user may panic. He does not know what to do. He looks at the engine and may try a few things, but he does not necessarily understand what is happening.
But the mechanic remains calm.
Why?
Because he has the knowledge.
Facing the same situation, the user panics while the mechanic simply tries to understand the problem and find the solution.
The ordinary user will call the mechanic because the mechanic has knowledge that he does not have.
And sometimes, the user will pay a lot of money to have the problem repaired simply because he does not have that knowledge.
Beloved, we can pay a very high price because of a lack of knowledge.
That is why we must seek to gain knowledge.
When Facing a Problem, Do Not Panic: Seek Knowledge
When facing a problem, when facing a situation that is beyond you, the first thing to do is not to panic.
The Bible says:
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”
— Philippians 4:6
Do not worry. Do not panic.
Seek knowledge.
Every problem can become an opportunity to learn something you did not know before.
This problem is not necessarily there to bury you.
This problem is not there to make you give up.
It can be an opportunity to seek the knowledge you are missing.
The problem you are facing today simply reveals that you do not yet know how to deal with it.
You May Not Need to Give Up, But to Learn
Let us take marriage as an example.
You are facing difficulties in your marriage and you begin to think:
“I made a bad marriage. My wife is the problem. My husband is the problem. I want a divorce.”
But before making such an important decision, seek knowledge.
Maybe the problem is not your wife or your husband.
Maybe you simply do not know how to communicate.
Maybe you do not know how to love your spouse.
Maybe you do not know how to handle conflicts or how to forgive.
You must be able to admit:
“I do not know what to do.”
And when you do not know what to do, seek knowledge.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
— James 1:5
If you lack wisdom, ask God for it.
The Knowledge of the Word of God
For every problem, there is knowledge to seek.
There is a lot of knowledge in the world. But as citizens of the Kingdom, we must especially seek the knowledge that comes from the Word of God.
The Word of God gives us the wisdom we need to live and to make good decisions.
David says:
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
— Psalm 119:105
When you do not know which direction to take, go back to the Word of God.
Seek knowledge. Seek wisdom.
Read the Bible Every Day
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
— Joshua 1:8
That is why I urge you, beloved: read the Bible every day.
We must develop the habit of feeding ourselves every day with the Word of God.
To help you do this, we follow a daily Bible reading program(https://olivierkango.com/fr/#bible-reading(https://olivierkango.com/fr/#bible-reading)) in order to gain more knowledge and wisdom.
The Bible says:
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
— Proverbs 9:10
The more knowledge we have, the more we learn to see situations differently.
Do Not Remain in Ignorance
Beloved, if you are facing a situation today that is beyond you, do not panic.
Do not immediately make a decision under the influence of fear.
Do not simply say: “It is impossible.”
Instead, say:
“I do not yet know how to do this. I will seek knowledge.”
Seek in the Word of God.
Pray.
Ask God for wisdom.
Learn.
Ask for advice from people who have knowledge and experience.
The mechanic remains calm when facing a breakdown because he knows how a car works.
You too, seek knowledge.
