Beloved in the Lord, shalom. I hope you are all well this morning by the grace of God. Together, we are going to share the Word of God taken from the book of Acts 16:16-40.
I was particularly blessed by verse 25.
And that led me to ask myself a question that I also ask you:
Faced with a difficult situation, faced with a complicated situation, what is our first reflex?
The inspiring example of Paul and Silas
Here, the apostle Paul teaches us that even in complicated situations, we must not lose the momentum to serve God. Being imprisoned is something humiliating, a high-level humiliation.
The first reflex of the apostles was to pray and praise God. The Bible tells us that God is enthroned in the midst of the praises and adoration of His people.
“Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One;
you are the one Israel praises.”
The apostle Paul was not just anyone in that time. Although he was a Jew, he was a Roman citizen. He therefore had the possibility to justify himself easily before the authorities, the governors and even the emperors. Yet, he did not choose that path. He prayed and worshiped God, even in prison, and they lifted up the name of Jesus.
When the supernatural happens
What I really love is that in the midst of this difficult situation, the supernatural took place. The jailers and all his family received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Beloved in the Lord, we must understand that certain difficulties and complicated situations we go through do not come to harm us or destroy us. No. They come so that the supernaturals of God may be accomplished in our lives, and so that the world may know that there is a God. There is a God!
This is exactly what happened in that prison: not only the jailer received Jesus, but the other prisoners also. And in the middle of that night, the jailer and all his family were baptized. What a depth of the grace of God!
May the Eternal God bless us abundantly. 🙏
