What the Women of the Bible Teach Us: How to Act to Seize Your Miracle
Theme: Christian Woman, How to Act to Seize Your Miracle?
This Christian teaching explores the lives of five women of the Bible — Abigail, Ruth, Hannah, Esther, and Dorcas — to help Christian women understand how to act with discernment, courage, patience, faith, and love in order to seize their miracles and blessings according to the Word of God.
As I was reading the Bible, I came across several stories, but those of the women particularly caught my attention. Not only because I am a woman, but also because their stories marked the world, especially those around them: through their discernment, their gentleness, their courage, their kindness, their wisdom, their goodness…
These women did not only seize their blessings, but they sowed and brought happiness, joy, love, and peace around them. That is why they are called women of distinction.
NB: This teaching is specially addressed to women.
Ladies, are you there?
1. Let's Talk About Abigail: Discernment and Sharing
Bible Reference: 1 Samuel 25
Who Is Abigail?
The Bible calls her a "woman of good understanding" (1 Samuel 25:3). In other words, a woman of discernment. Why is she called this? Because she used good sense and showed discernment.
Abigail was a woman married to a very rich man. Despite his wealth, her husband was harsh and had no good sense, unlike his wife. I even wonder why Abigail married him…
The story begins with a famine. David and his companions were hungry. They were so hungry that David sent his servants to ask for some food from the richest man in the village: Abigail's husband. Unfortunately, they were not given what they wanted.
What Did Abigail Do to Seize Her Miracle?
She simply shared her meal with others.
What Other Women of the Bible Teach Us About Sharing Food
Let's talk about food: food is one of the things that can seize blessings. The example of Sarah, Abraham's wife, is another proof. Without hesitation, she prepared food for the strangers with joy and love (Genesis 18). After these strangers had finished eating and were well satisfied, they declared blessings upon her. And you know the rest… Hallelujah!
The woman of distinction (the widow of Zarephath) is another example. She gave without hesitation to Elijah all the food she had, even though it was all she had left (1 Kings 17). After the man of God had finished eating and was well satisfied, he performed a great miracle: he filled all the jars of oil she had. From that day on, oil and flour never ran out in her house.
What These Women Teach Us
Food served with love and joy to strangers opens doors of blessings that no one can close. A simple meal, a simple dish can move boundaries, bring solutions, bring answers, change an entire destiny. Let us learn to share our food with love and joy with others, especially with strangers, for you never know.
Let's Return to Abigail
What happened after the rich man sent David's servants away without food? David's anger rose: anger + hunger. I can imagine the intensity. So David decided to confront this man himself, with the decision to take his life. Fortunately, the news reached Abigail's ears before David arrived at her house. Thanks to her discernment and good sense, she decided to do good. She quickly prepared food with great discretion, without her husband knowing. With love and kindness, she personally brought the food to David and his companions.
The first thing she did: ask for forgiveness. She threw herself at David's feet, begging for his forgiveness with all humility (1 Samuel 25:23-24).
The second thing: present the food. What strategy! What discernment! Forgiveness before food. She knew that food could not calm anger, but forgiveness could. For food is not for the soul. That is why she began by apologizing for her husband's mistake. Forgiveness to soothe the soul, and food to satisfy the hunger. Forgiveness + food = satisfaction.
Here is David's reaction: "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who sent you today to meet me! Blessed be your good sense, and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from shedding blood and avenging myself with my own hand!" (1 Samuel 25:32-33). And as a reward, David took her as his wife.
This is how Abigail seized her miracle and her blessing. It was not only a blessing she had received, but also a total deliverance by getting rid of that harsh man. Through her discernment and her meal, she became the wife of the great David.
What Does Abigail's Story Teach Us?
We must not be "bacoyo" (careless ones). Let us share our meals with others with love, joy, and kindness, for in doing so, we may entertain angels without knowing it, as Hebrews 13:2 says: "Do not forget to show hospitality; for by doing so, some have entertained angels without knowing it."
In short, she teaches us sharing and good sense.
2. Let's Talk About Ruth: Courage and Work
Bible Reference: Book of Ruth (all chapters)
Who Is Ruth?
We all know the story of Ruth. I will not talk about her choice to follow her mother-in-law Naomi, but I will emphasize her courage and her work. Hallelujah!
We all know that after the death of a spouse, especially for a woman, it is difficult to find a man and remarry. In reality, it is a great miracle, and Ruth was a beneficiary of this miracle.
Ruth is a widowed woman who had not only lost her husband, but also her brothers-in-law and her father-in-law. She finds herself alone, without children. All the people she was attached to had left her, except her sister-in-law (who eventually stayed) and her mother-in-law. They find themselves in an unfavorable situation, full of suffering and trouble. Imagine the depth of this pain 💔. Who will comfort whom? Each with her own grief 😭. In the end, she became the wife of Boaz.
After a time of mourning, misfortune, and suffering, they decided to take courage, rise up, and continue with life. They left the country where they lived for another, that of their mother-in-law.
How Did She Act to Seize Her Miracle?
Through her courage and her work.
Lazy women, those who do not like to work, are you there 🧐? If you were in the same situation as Ruth, how would you act to seize your miracle if you are not courageous and hardworking?
Seeking something to do was the first thing Ruth did when she arrived in her mother-in-law's country. Wow 👌 These kinds of women 😊 They are very rare.
This is how she decided to start working in a field to glean ears of grain. She was passionate about her work, she did it with love and joy, until the owner of the field, Boaz, noticed her (Ruth 2:5-7). What diligence 🥵!
Everyone was curious about her, including Boaz. He was so impressed that he invited her to his home. We all know the rest… Second chance, second marriage 😊. The couple was formed and they had a child together: Obed, the grandfather of King David.
What Does Ruth's Story Teach Us?
To always be courageous, no matter what happens. To rise up and continue living. Thanks to her courage, she overcame fear, loneliness, grief, and gave a second chance to her life. Her courage led her to work without complexes.
Dear lady, you do not only have to show your body to be noticed, but rather to show your skills and your courage. I assure you that you will not only impress, but also attract miracles and blessings to yourself.
Let us be courageous and hardworking women, full of projects. Besides, today's men prefer women who work 😁. Work is not only for men, we can also do it ✊.
3. Let's Talk About Hannah (Samuel's Mother): Patience, Faith, and Prayer
Bible Reference: 1 Samuel, chapters 1 and 2
Who Is Hannah?
Hannah was the first wife of Elkanah. She was her husband's favorite, but the Lord had made her barren (1 Samuel 1:5). Peninnah, her husband's second wife, had children. Hannah suffered greatly from Peninnah's mockery and from society. Every day, the pain rose within her 😭. At the end of the story, Hannah conceived and gave birth to Samuel.
How Did She Act to Seize Her Miracle?
Through patience, faith, and prayer. Hannah was a woman of prayer. She always prayed with faith. Despite her barrenness, she prayed with faith because she knew that nothing is impossible with God. She had so much trust in her God. Until God heard her prayer and answered it (1 Samuel 1:27).
What Does Hannah Teach Us?
She teaches us to pray without ceasing, without growing weary, without lamenting. To always be patient and to trust God despite the pressure of society. For what is impossible with men is possible with God (Luke 18:27).
4. Let's Talk About Esther: Purity, Beauty, and Good Values
Bible Reference: Book of Esther, from chapter 2
Who Is Esther?
Esther is a girl beautiful in form and figure (Esther 2:7). Orphaned of father and mother, she was adopted by her uncle Mordecai. She later became queen after being chosen by King Ahasuerus.
It all began with a disappointment: the king, humiliated and dishonored by his wife, Queen Vashti, during a great feast he had organized to celebrate his victory, decided to repudiate her. So the king decided to look for another woman to replace her. This is how he organized a competition: all the beautiful and virgin women of the country would be gathered, and the one who was loved and chosen would become queen.
This is where Esther's miracle began. She decided to participate in the competition because she met the criteria: to be a virgin and beautiful.
Let's Talk About the Criteria
a. Being a Virgin
Esther was a virgin! Wow 👌 Something that our current generation neglects. We live in a world where the fact that a girl is still a virgin is considered a shame. If you are a virgin, you are not civilized, you are not fashionable. That is false and false!!! Young Christian girl, do not be deceived: being a virgin does not mean you are not civilized. It is not at all a shame, but rather a pride, for it is proof of good conduct and good values.
But being a virgin does not mean you are more special than another who is no longer one. Christian woman, if you are no longer a virgin, do not feel guilty. Pick yourself up, change your path, and return to Jesus. Hallelujah!!!
b. Beauty
The Bible clearly tells us that Esther was beautiful in form and figure. Wow 😊 What grace! Beauty is a gift from God, a grace that can open doors of blessings and seize miracles.
The example of Delilah: Delilah was very beautiful. Through her beauty, her charm, her gentleness, and her elegance, Samson revealed his secret (Judges 16). Delilah had used no weapon, nor force. Despite her bad intentions, this shows the power of beauty. But you, Christian woman, you can use your beauty for good causes. Use your beauty to evangelize, your charisma and your charm to speak about Jesus, your gentleness and your elegance to draw others to Jesus.
Christian woman, spirituality does not exclude cleanliness, elegance, gentleness, charm, charisma… You can be a Christian and take good care of your body and always be presentable before people. In any case, there is no harm in that!
Imagine: the women who were to participate in the competition organized by King Ahasuerus took care of their beauty treatments for six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with spices and perfumes (Esther 2:12) 😀😀. And you, Christian woman, you can't even spare an hour to take care of your body? That's not good, that's not good!!! You are a Christian woman and you go a day or two without taking a shower? That is very, very shameful.
Other women have missed their blessing because of their carelessness. Christian woman, be clean! Even Ruth, before presenting herself to Boaz, took time for her body: time to wash well, to fix her hair, to perfume herself (Ruth 3:3). And you, what do you do?
Today, know well that the way you present yourself before people has a great influence on you, more than you can even imagine. Be aware and stop believing that elegance, gentleness, taking care of yourself, making yourself beautiful, charisma… is for pagans. No, no! It concerns us too.
Hello, dear ladies!!!
How Did Esther Act to Seize Her Miracle?
She simply presented herself to the competition because she met the participation criteria: to be a virgin and beautiful.
What Does Esther's Story Teach Us?
Esther teaches us that what we are is greater than what we have. "What I am is greater than what I have." Esther had absolutely nothing, not even her parents, but she was beautiful and a virgin (grace).
Dear Christian woman, do not complicate your life. You do not need to have an iPhone 17 Pro Max to be noticed, nor to wear designer clothes to make yourself valuable, nor to come from a great and wealthy family to be loved and chosen, nor to sleep with men to get marriage, nor to wear clothes that show intimate parts to be seen. No!!!
Christian woman: just be yourself and always keep good values.
5. Let's Talk About Dorcas: Kindness and Good Works
Bible Reference: Acts of the Apostles 9:36-42
Who Is Dorcas?
She is a seamstress. She was always sewing clothes for the poor and widows. The Bible presents her as a very kind, amiable woman, who always loved to do good to others, especially the poor and widows.
What Did She Do to Seize Her Blessing?
Through her love (love of neighbor) and through her good works.
One day, she fell sick and unfortunately she died. What I love is that Dorcas was dead, but her love for others was alive. Her good works were alive. Wow, wow!
Until the people refused her death, even though she was already dead. How great is God, the people called Peter to see her. Through prayer, Dorcas came back to life (Acts 9:40-41).
What Does Dorcas's Story Teach Us?
Dear woman, let us love. Let us be kind by supporting others in good and bad times. Dorcas was a seamstress, she had transformed her profession into charity. She sewed not for money, but to help the poor and widows. Her machine, her strength, her time, her fabrics and accessories, everything was to please others, to help.
And you, Christian woman, what do you do to please others? Christian woman, how much does kindness cost you? What does loving do to you? How does helping bother you? A great maestro but unable to give, a great intercessor but who has no compassion for others… Examine your character and change, for you never know.
Doing good is a profitable investment. Give without expecting anything in return or any reward. Try it, and you will not be disappointed. Dorcas already tried it. Result: resurrected from the dead!
Christian woman, be kind to people and perform good works. Others say that kindness attracts disrespect. That is false and false! Every seed of good works planted has always yielded good fruits.
Conclusion
Here we are at the end of our teaching. We have talked about 5 women: 4 from the Old Covenant and 1 from the New Covenant. Each of them teaches us how to act to seize our miracle and our blessing, but in a different way. This shows us that God is the same, but He blesses us in different ways.

Yes, you can do it.
Christian woman, arise!
Value what you are,
For what you are is greater than what you have.
Long live the woman!
Long live the Christian woman!
